The client required the construction of a compressor and storage building for natural gas fuelling of Transperth buses with an associated refuelling canopy and new electric sub-station building
Functionality was the main consideration for these buildings. The compressor building in particular was required to suppress the loud noise made by the compressors as this depot was surrounded by residences. This was achieved with 150mm concrete tilt panels and a suspended slab both at first floor level (to hold the large sound attenuating air inlets), and at roof level. The refuelling canopy was made of structural steel and metal clad. The sub-station was constructed of brick with a steel roof and concrete floors and trenches.
