The project involved the construction of a secure facility for hazardous household waste materials, including acids, alkaline matter and flammable goods. The project required the construction of separate and self-contained storage facilities for the holding of hazardous waste prior to its treatment and/or disposal as part of the Henderson Waste Recovery Park, an initiative of the City of Cockburn.
The project was completed using a combination of tilt panel construction with a structural steel-framed roof. As the building site was located within an operating waste disposal and land fill facility, the project was undertaken in such a way as to ensure minimal impact on existing operations. The project involved the construction of a number of open tilt panel "cells" under the main roof, each boasting thorough ventilation and comprehensive firefighting facilities, together with road paving and curbing.
