Facility Overview

This commercial design and build involved constructing a vehicle dismantling facility project for JTW Auto Parts, located at 18 Scandium Way, East Rockingham WA. Built on a 24,870m² site, the total building area is 3,135m² and includes a 300m² office and a 361m² purpose-built dismantling facility, separate from the main warehouse. The warehouse is designed to store thousands of vehicle parts. The remaining 21,735m² comprises recycled road base to accommodate a large number of car bodies, along with concrete hardstands surrounding the warehouse and dismantling building. Staff and visitor parking is also included. The structure features on-site cast concrete panels and concrete floors, ideal for industrial durability and performance.

Prominent features

A standout aspect of this vehicle dismantling facility construction is the custom-designed dismantling building, which modernises traditional car wrecking yards. It is built with a focus on environmental responsibility, incorporating systems to safely capture and manage waste materials generated during the dismantling process. The entire site has been planned to balance functionality with a clean, professional appearance.

Project Challenges

The vehicle dismantling facility construction project faced a tight program due to the concurrent design and construction schedule. Despite the complexity, Shelford delivered the project on time, demonstrating strong project management and construction expertise.
