Complex Architectural Construction
The building's detailed brickwork and structural-steel skylight created some of the project's key construction challenges.
The complex architectural brick pattern required an extended bricklaying programme of more than five weeks, while the feature skylight involved coordinating structural steel, multiple cladding systems and several intersecting roof pitches.
Close supervision and quality management were required to achieve the intended architectural outcome while maintaining the construction programme.
Public & School Interface
The project was delivered near an operating primary school and within an area accessible to the general public.
A fully supervised Site Safety Management Plan, controlled site access and contractor inductions were implemented to minimise interaction between construction activities, students and members of the public.
Civil Works & Site Infrastructure
The project included the construction of a new slip lane providing access to the complex from Connolly Drive, requiring careful planning due to the adjoining busy dual-carriageway environment.
More than 500 metres of service trenches were also excavated across the project, requiring preliminary planning and coordination to prevent delays to subsequent construction activities.
