Overview

Project Overview

The Beale Park Redevelopment involves the construction of a new sporting and community facility for the City of Cockburn. Delivered across two stages alongside the staged demolition of the existing clubrooms, the project will provide a modern home for the Cockburn City Soccer Club and the wider community. At the heart of the facility are six changerooms with shower amenities, an umpire changeroom, and spacious function and club rooms. A dedicated trophy display celebrates the club’s history and achievements, while generous wrap-around verandas provide views across the playing fields. The facility also includes a fully equipped commercial kitchen, secondary kitchen, kiosk, two bars, cool room, office, first aid room, club storage areas, and male, female and universal-access amenities.
The external works include two new car parks providing 147 bays, including accessible, ambulance and pick-up bays. The project also features 17 new sports-lighting poles around the oval, extensive landscaping and a new sports-storage shed.

Key Features

The main entrances to the new facility present pre-curved 20mm mild steel entry shrouds featuring striking yellow soffits.
High level architectural finishes such as Austral Grecian Gold face brickwork, paired with Cemintel Barestone cladding and Ultrawood non-combustible timber-look battens, give the new community park pavilion a contemporary, durable aesthetic that complements the surrounding landscape while providing a welcoming and high-quality public facility. The function/club rooms feature an Acoustic operable wall between them, allowing multiple functions to be held at the same time with no interfering noise passing
between them - or allowing for the option of opening up one large hall. Autex suspended acoustic ceiling panels and perforated plasterboard, work together with the operable wall to keep every event quiet and comfortable. Both rooms feature, motorised blinds, smart displays and speakers, all operated from a central touch panel.
The floors were installed with an under-carpet hearing augmentation loop to support equitable access for people with hearing impairments, reinforcing the pavilion's role as an inclusive and accessible community facility for a diverse range of users.
The new facility was fitted with a beautifully crafted, feature-lit trophy cabinet to showcase the community’s history.
Installed to the facility was a 9kW rooftop solar array, providing a substantial amount of the club’s energy requirements through solar energy. The roof also features a siphonic drainage system which allowed for more cost and space efficiency, and architectural freedom

Construction Challenges

Beale Park remained open to the public throughout construction, with the community using the surrounding open space every day. This required careful planning, exclusion zones, traffic management and ongoing coordination to keep the public safe while works continued around them.
The site's established trees were protected throughout, with works planned around tree protection zones and carried out under arborist supervision, ensuring no trees were harmed.
The installation of seventeen new light poles around the oval, ranging from 25 to 35 metres in height, proved challenging. Footings up to four metres deep encountered hard rock during drilling, and cable trenching ran across the live park. With careful sequencing and close supervision, these works - and the project as a whole were completed with zero incidents to the public and the workforce.
