Overview

Chep’s (a Brambles Company) is the latest tenant to join Roe Highway Logistics Park with its new custom-designed Facility that occupies a four-hectare lot.
The Global supply chain solutions provider Facility entailed the construction of a purpose build Main Office & Warehouse housing automated pallet repair and washing technology. The perimeter hardstand has the capacity for storage of 110,000 pallets.

Prominent features

The major architectural feature of the CHEP office facility is the “CHEP C” constructed from steel framing with Ultrabond cladding curved around corners to achieve the desired look to match the CHEP logo. The most prominent aspect of the CHEP facility is the sheer size of the pallet wash & repair facilities and the extensive hardstand area that is used to house the thousands of pallet’s that CHEP stores, washes, repairs and distributes across Australia.

Project Challenges

Built at the height of COVID-19 and other several on-site challenges the project had high potential of being delayed. Early unseasonal wet weather with higher than expected winds presented itself during the build.
With a focused Project Team (including all stakeholders) the program was achieved, and issues addressed systematically with detailed planning, strong contractor by-in & resequencing of works. Site coordination played an important role to ensure unexpected events were minimised or eliminated where possible.
