Delineating the stage works involved the construction of a limestone retaining wall and associated garrison fencing. Metal roofing, doors and windows to the structures were installed. Construction materials and architecture were conducive to the nature of the facility for early childhood studies. Project specifications were in line with the operational brief requirements for such a facility considering the end user. Electrical and hydraulic services, and road pavement/kerbing and landmarking services were utilised where required.

Project Challenges

The discovery of asbestos containing materials meant engaging licensed asbestos removalists. Multiple stakeholders and external client contractors involved in the delivery of the project posed co-ordination challenges. Effective stakeholder management and communication was key to the delivery of the job. Lightweight and robust structural materials used for the project provided a cost-effective solution without compromising quality and longevity of the project and its facilities. Latent rock conditions encountered on site prolonged various site activity works. The site team mitigated these delays by resequencing works and undertaking works concurrently to meet program end dates.
